The building blocks to bluegrass banjo are Scruggs Licks, named after the immortal Earl Scruggs, inventor of modern bluegrass banjo playing. He designed a rapid-fire approach using three fingers and metal finger-picks, that wrapped the melody up in “Rolls” and created the exciting sound we know today as Scruggs Style.
