KALA CHANA / SMALL CHICK PEAS Small chick peas pulao is a one pot meal, very healthy full of proteins. It is apt for children’s lunch box. Simple, yet tasty and aromatic. #premilashealthykitchen #kalachanapulao #recipe INGREDIENTS: SMALL CHICK PEAS/KALA CHANA – ½ cup BASMATI RICE – 1 cup GREEN CHILLIES -1 GARLIC CLOVES -6 TOMATOES -1 ONION -1 SMALL SALT AS PER TASTE SHAHIJEERA -1/2 TSP CARDAMOM -2 CLOVES -2 CINNAMON -1 INCH TURMERIC -1/2 TSP CORIANDER POWDER – 1TSP MINT LVS CORIANDER LVS WATER -1 and a half cup Ghee or OIL -1 TSP METHOD: Wash the rice 2-3 times. Boil small chick peas/chana with a little salt. Make a paste of green chillies and garlic. Heat 1 tsp of ghee or oil in a cooker, and add cardomom, cloves , shahi jeera and cinnamon. After the masalas are fried, add onions, and saute for 2 mins, till light brown. Then add tomatoes along with green chillies and garlic paste, coriander powder and turmeric powder. Place the lid saute for 2 mins on a slow flame till the tomatoes are well cooked. Then add chana and drained rice. Mix well. Salt to be added as per taste , few mint and finely chopped coriander leaves too. Gently fry the rice and chana for a minute , add water and let it boil. Taste for salt. Place the cooker lid , and once the steam comes out , immediately place the whistle, and cook on slow flame for at least 7-10 mins, and then turn off the flame. Let the pulao rest for 10 mins before releasing the pressure from the pressure cooker. Dish out the pulao, and garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Try ,enjoy and do let me know your views.
