Flight TK15 had departed from Istanbul with 256 passengers and was flying to Sao Paulo when it declared an emergency and diverted to Casablanca after a note bearing the word “bomb” was found in a lavatory, a spokesman for the airline told Reuters. The Boeing 777 landed in Casablanca at 12:30 p.m. local time. AFP reported that passengers were immediately evacuated upon landing, and a search for explosives was immediately launched. No explosives were found and the plane was cleared to resume its flight. On Sunday a Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul to Tokyo returned to Istanbul shortly after takeoff when a note that read “C4 Cargo” was found on the lavatory door. C4 is a type of plastic explosives.
