For those who were wondering, her dad spies on her while she is talking to Jeff ( at least in this video) and he overhears what she says to him, and he discovers his daughter really loves Jeff so he gives his consent to Jeff. (That is why the dad is seen sitting up when Colette is talking to Jeff about running away.)
