I figured now that the price of Diesel fuel has come down a bit that people would be more open to the discussion of buying a diesel engine vs a gas engine. and at the end of the day it comes down to what you will be using the truck for. 1. towing If you are towing heavy or frequently the diesel option is by far your best options. It is a far superior engine for towing and will give you much much better performance under load then the gas engine. 2. Driving habits If you are not driving your truck long distances or often the gas engine is probably the better option. these modern diesel engine love getting nice and hot and worked hard, same for the emission systems. without that you will shorten the life of the diesel engine. 3. reliability unfortunately the reliability of diesel engine is no longer what it used to be.
