KPVI/NBC Commercial Breaks, 10/20/1996

JOIN BROADCAST PLAZA TODAY, DISCORD'S MEDIA DISCUSSION COMMUNITY — http://bit.ly/S31MA Commercial breaks taken from part one of the two-part miniseries "Danielle Steel's The Ring" on then Sunbelt Communications-owned NBC affiliate KPVI in Pocatello, Idaho (also serving Idaho Falls). Sunbelt had just taken over the station about a year earlier from the previous ownership, an entity called Ambassador Media that was controlled by US Senator William Armstrong. That company ran KPVI on a very tight budget, and as you'll see in later uploads, the difference between this and how they were a couple of years earlier was very much night and day. Sunbelt converted the station from ABC to NBC at the start of 1996, owing to Sunbelt's close connections to NBC. Longtime NBC affiliate KIFI took ABC in return. Sunbelt eventually broke up its group in the early 2010s, with KPVI first going to Frontier Radio Management, who quickly flipped the station to Northwest Broadcasting. Northwest later was bought out by Apollo Global Management, who merged the group with Cox Media Group. CMG then spun off the former Northwest stations (plus legacy holdings in Memphis and Tulsa) to Imagicomm Communications in 2022, and that is KPVI's current owner. Imagicomm is a company connected to the INSP cable network. KPVI remains an NBC affiliate to this day. Not surprisingly, given that this was recorded a couple of weeks before Election Day, there's plenty of political ads seen here, mainly for a US Senate race.
