Grain Size Distribution in Clastic Dikes

Grainsize distributions inside adjacent fill bands in clastic dikes of the Columbia Basin commonly differ from one another, sometimes dramatically. When sampled in bulk, however, the distribution of a given dike is virtually identical to that of the host sediment which surrounds it. Grainsize characteristics of the Touchet Beds (and high energy flood facies) differ by location. Grainsize of sediment filling dikes reflects this.
