Gulab Jamun is one of the authentic and most popular Indian Sweets. These are usually made up of khoya. We have tried making it with milk powder which is easily available and quite easy to go with. Ingredients 1 Cup Milk Powder 6 Tbsp Cup Milk 2 Tbsp Cup Ghee 1 1/2 Cup Sugar 1 1/2 Cup Water Ghee For Deep Frying 1 Tbsp All Purpose Flour 1 Tbsp Semolina 1/2 Tsp Baking Powder Saffron strings Cardamom powder Method Mix Milk Powder, Semolina, All purpose flour, Baking powder, Ghee and Milk all together. Keep it aside for 1/2 an hour -- In a mean time take sugar in a vessel and add 1 cup water to it. Simmer it for 4 minutes to make sugar syrup. Add saffron strings and cardamom powder to it while boiling. Add 1/2 Tsp lemon juice to it. Chef Tip : Add 1 Tbsp milk to Sugar syrup to remove impurities from it. -- Divide milk powder mixture in marble sized balls. Cover these balls n dough with damp cloth to avoid it from drying. -- Heat sufficient ghee for deep frying. Fry Gulab jamun on a low flame till it turns golden brown in colour. (Chef tip : Do not add hot fried balls directly into the syrup. Adding it hot can change the shape of it and possibly makes it chewy. -- Add these Gulab jamun to warm sugar syrup and let it soak in syrup for 2 hours. -- Serve it either cool or warm as per your choice.
