(2 May 2018) Liverpool fans were enjoying themselves around central Rome on Wednesday morning, a few hours ahead of the second leg of the Champions League semi-final against Roma. Security remains a concern for authorities following clashes at the first leg that left a Liverpool fan in critical condition. Italian state police said "special attention" will be paid to the arrival and movements of 5,000 Liverpool supporters in the capital. Wednesday's game is seen by some a rematch of the 1984 European Cup final that Liverpool won in a penalty shootout in Roma's stadium. Rome municipality has issued an alcohol ban and has constructed fences to make several monumental fountains inaccessible in order to avoid potential acts of vandalism. Liverpool fans will be escorted with buses directly to the stadium to avoid clashes with Roma fans. Liverpool won the first leg of the tie 5-2, so Roma needs a repeat of its 3-0 second-leg victory over Barcelona in the quarter finals to reach next month's final in Kiev.
