A fresh warning from North Korea. The leader's powerful sister Kim Yo-jong on Tuesday morning threatened to take “quick, overwhelming action” in response to the continued joint drills between South Korea and the U.S., according to the North's state media Korea Central News Agency. The South's Joint Chiefs of Staff responded with no further comment other than the military is "standing guard." "South Korea's and the U.S.' intelligence are working closely together to keep a close eye on North Korea's movements, and our military is keeping its guard up." Kim's warning shortly follows the joint drill on Monday where the U.S. deployed a nuclear-capable, long-range bomber B-52H to the Korean Peninsula. The B-52H flew in formation over the country's west coast, along with South Korean aircraft, F-15K and KF-16. The air forces are getting ready for the upcoming Freedom Shield next week, the largest joint drill in five years. Pyongyang seems uneasy about this display of strong Seoul-Washington ties. Kim Yo-jong said that the North is closely watching every move and blamed the allies for the growing tensions. One expert says these words could soon amount to future actions. "Well, one of the responses that we can think about by the North Korea is to launch the another round of ICBMs and also we should not exclude the possibility of the seventh nuclear test." Kim did hint that the North could fire more missiles into the Pacific Ocean and should the U.S. intercept them, the regime will see it as a "declaration of war." Meanwhile, the allies conducted another round of air drills on Tuesday. About 10 aircraft were involved in a take-off and landing drill on an emergency landing strip in the southeastern province of Gyeongsangnam-do.
