But better late, than never, believe Telugus all around the world, who are particularly excited about this year's Telugu Prapancha Mahasabhalu — 2017, (World Telugu Conference), which gets underway today at LB Stadium, Hyderabad. After all, this is the first Telugu conference after the language was accorded 'classical' status by the Union Government and the first conference which is being held by the Telangana government, naturally with a Telangana-centric approach to it."I love Telugu language immensely; but hitherto, the contribution of Telangana to Telugu language and culture was always given short shrift. This time though, I have travelled all the way from the US for the conference as I know that my region would get its due prominence," says Nyandeep Reddy, a techie from Karimnagar, based in Texas, USA. Nyandeep is one of the over 7,000 delegates who will be attending the event this year.
