24th Sunday in Ordinary Time/ Homily/ Mercy and forgiveness.

#September 17th, 2023. #24th Sunday in Ordinary Time. Readings: #Sirach 27:30 – 28:9; Psalm 103: 1-2, 3-4, 9-10, 11-12; Roman 14: 7-9; Matthew 18: 21-3 Dear brothers and sisters. The readings for the 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time for Year A focus on mercy and forgiveness. Forgiveness is a word that we often hear, but how often do we truly understand its meaning and live it out in our daily lives? In the first reading from the Book of Sirach, we are reminded that anger and resentment have no place in our hearts if we want to experience God's forgiveness. "Forgive your neighbour’s injustice; then when you pray, your own sins will be forgiven" (Sirach 28:2). This passage urges us to let go of anger and resentment towards others, and instead, practice forgiveness. Just as God in his infinite mercy forgives us, so too must we forgive others. #catholic #homilies #sunday_homily #7times #how_many_times_forgive
