Thirukalyanam 6.4.12 Piriyavidai, also known as Piriya Nayaki, of Kapali means the consort of Kapali who never leaves him. They, together represent the universal father and mother. We see our parents always together, the same way Kapali and Piriya Nayaki take care of, guide and bless us together. Even if Kapali goes on oblivion, she awakes him to solve the problems of the children, ie all human beings. Karpagamba on the other hand descends down to assist us, protect us and to be with us in day to day affairs. However Piriya Nayaki and Karpagamba both are the same Sakthi behind Lord Kapali, but in different forms. On Thirukalyanam Day the Mangalydaranam is done to Piriya Nayaki first as she is together with the Lord and then to Karpagamba.
