The government has with immediate effect stopped the registration of refugees in the country and has ordered the UNHCR and other agencies serving asylum seekers in Kenya to close all registration centres. The government has also ordered all refugees living in urban centres to immediately report back to their respective refugee camps, either at Daadab or Kakuma. The government's move comes only hours after top security officials revealed that police have in their possession intelligence reports that the Al Shaabab militants were now paying their sympathizers up to a million shillings for every Kenyan security officer they kill.
