Just A Shave: Gillette SS 40s Style - Personna Israeli Red (12) - Mamth Tusk Stones - Semogue TSN LE
Great lather today with Mammoth Stones. Trying the Israeli Red in another vintage razor. Razor: Gillette - Super Speed 40s Style Blade: Personna - Israeli Red (12) Lather: Mammoth Soaps Tusk - Stones Brush: Semogue - The Shave Nook 2020 LE Premium (5 uses) Post: Stirling - Dunshire Razor and Blade Notes - Gillette - Super Speed 40s Style ::: Personna - Israeli Red (12 uses): This was a pretty good combo. The razor held the Red in check and I only ended up with a little irritation after the shave, which went away in minutes. A little blade feel, but very manageable and comfortable. Just a little audio from this razor. If I had to use Reds, I 'd pick one of the other razors that does better at it than this one. But I could use this setup daily if I needed to, and I'd still enjoy it enough. Cut was pretty good. Soap Notes - Mammoth Soaps Tusk - Stones: Them: Stones is a darker version of our Almond Leather scent, made to represent the strength it takes to push forward when things are uncertain. I've taken the leather accord from Almond Leather and balanced it with ginger, tobacco, Indonesian vetiver, and sandalwood. The tobacco accord in Stones is full and smooth, with tobacco absolute, tabanon, valspice, coumarex, kephalis, amyl salicylate, and a touch of dark aged patchouli. The ginger is simply a fresh ginger EO from Madagascar, which provides a lift and slightly spicy character to the heart of the fragrance while lending a bit of woodiness. Indonesian vetiver provides earthy dark green facets to balance the fragrance. I've emphasized its woody character by adding atlas cedar, timbersilk, and ebanol, which imparts a rich balsamic sandalwood aspect. The Mammoth Stones scent is devoid of top notes, headless. The various components come together to form a warm, earthy, very real and natural scent that anchors you to the ground the way mammoth-sized stones would. Me: I just know I love it. Could get the leather and some tobacco, and maybe the vetiver. Wasn't strong, but just about right in the strength dept. Scent Strength: 5/10, present during shaving. Lather: I remembered this time how this base can take so much water and I can get it to a very fluid, elastic state before I use it. This let me hit just the right mix from the start, and it was superb as usual. Someone how likes their lather a bit creamier would maybe back off on the water by 0.5-1 tsp. Hydration: Perfect (for me) 30 sec load with a Lightly-Wet brush 4.75 tsp added to make lather = 6 passes of lather Bowl: Roger Quintero 3D Printed Bowl I use the XL version of this bowl. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:339...
