Battle 1 versus Will (psychic) Xatu Level 40 (Psychic/Flying) -Psychic -Confuse Ray -Me First -U Turn Weaknesses: Electric, Ice, Rock, Ghost, Dark Jynx Level 41 (Ice/Psychic) -Psychic -Ice Punch -Doubleslap -Lovely Kiss Weaknesses: Fire, Bug, Rock, Ghost, Dark, Steel Slowbro Level 41 (Water/Psychic) -Psychic -Water Pulse -Amnesia -Curse Weaknesses: Grass, Electric, Bug, Ghost, Dark Exeggutor Level 41 (Grass/Psychic) -Psychic -Egg Bomb -Reflect -Hypnosis Weaknesses: Bug (4x), Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying, Ghost, Dark Xatu Level 42 (Psychic/Flying) -Psychic -Aerial Ace -Ominous Wind -Confuse Ray Weaknesses: Electric, Ice, Rock, Ghost, Dark Further Analysis: Xatu Level 40 Me First is the move to watch out for. If Xatu is faster than you, it will steal your attacking move and hit you back with 50% more power. Be careful. Take the opportunity to boost stats if necessary in order to avoid taking damage from Me First. Also, if you do attack, use types that won't hit you back for serious damage. Xatu has weaker physical attack, so you can safely use your own physical moves without worrying about Xatu hitting you back with them for a ton of HP. If you have a faster Pokemon than Xatu, me first will fail to work, so keep that in mind as well. Confuse Ray is an annoyance, but its one of those things you have to deal with as usual. Luckily Xatu only uses psychic and u-turn for attacks, so walling it isn't too tough. Steel shuts it down, and dark as always will work nicely despite its weakness to u-turn. Xatu has a bunch of vulnerability due to it's weaknesses, so get your best super effective moves ready and get to work! Jynx Level 41 Physical attacks! Use them! Jynx has awful defense and can't take physical hits well at all. Special attacks won't do nearly as much, keep that in mind. Jynx can hit hard with ice punch and psychic. It will try putting you to sleep as well so have full heals ready to go. The main threat is psychic. Jynx's ice punch isn't great, so finding a pokemon that can take the psychic (darks are perfect) is a good idea. Jynx isn't a big concern, especially considering its 6 weaknesses. Slowbro Level 41 Slowbro will try to beef up it's defense with amnesia and curse. It's slow, so go for big time initial damage before it can power itself up even more. It's defense is much higher than its special defense, so I find that the choice specs strategy works wonders. Equipping choice specs with a move like thunderbolt, petal dance, dark pulse, shadow ball, etc. will do massive damage and probably get Slowbro out of the way fast. It's psychic and water pulse can hit hard, so you will want this thing out of the way fast. Exeggutor Level 41 This thing has 7 weaknesses including X4 weakness to bug. Utilize it's heavy downside. Find super effective moves and get to work. Exeggutor has higher defense than special defense. It also has reflect, making special attacks even more useful. It's psychic is stronger than any of Will's other Pokemon, and it's egg bomb can lay down some decent damage. This thing may take down some of your team members, but as long as you have revives at the ready it shouldn't be a huge issue. It's very slow meaning you can get your strong hits on it quickly. Utilize it's low speed to hit it hard with any of it's 7 weaknesses. Xatu Level 42 Very similar to the original Xatu. This one doesn't have Me First making things a little easier actually. There is less thinking involved! It does have Aerial Ace and Ominous Wind, but both are weak in power and shouldn't pose much of a threat. It still has psychic in its arsenal, and confuse ray as always. This is the highest level, and its not really that tough. If you took out the first Xatu, you should have no problems here :) Overall, you need to keep in mind that Will has 5 good special attackers that all know the move psychic. Dark types can completely avoid this and are the best option. Steel types work great too. If you aren't equipped with dark or steel, find a pokemon that can take psychic well and use it as much as you can. Defensive approaches are always nice, making X Special Defend a good option as well. Fast ghost types as well as your own psychic types with moves like shadow ball can dominate will. However he is only the first of 4, so we have more trouble coming soon! Next up we take on the second member.
