Bleaching wood is a great alternative to brighten up a piece without painting over it. I like the look of real wood and giving an old piece new life makes it even more special. Bleaching real wood would have been a lot easier than bleaching this veneer piece but overall, it was a simple process. If you are looking to try it out, I would definitely recommend it. Process: Sanding the piece will take off any top layer color and give the bleach something to soak into. Next bleach the item by spraying a coat and brushing it evenly across the surface. Let it dry in between coats and do as many coats as necessary to attain the desired color. Leather handles- This is a creative process. I saw ideas on pinterest by searching “leather handles on dressers” and then made up my own version of what I saw. There are so many different ways to do this. Some things we kept in mind- The thicker the leather, the more durable it will be over time. Bunching holes with a leather awl instead of cutting holes made the leather fit snug and safe. Shout outs: To my husband Gabriel for going along with my fun ideas, sanding, and bleaching. (So this pregnant momma could stay away from those harsh chemicals.)
