The UK has declared its first Level 4 national heatwave emergency as forecasters warn temperatures could reach 40C next week. It comes as temperatures in Europe reached record highs a wave of wildfire and heat-related deaths has torn through Europe. Average Temperatures in Portugal and Spain soared over 40 degrees and at least 260 people have died in Spain as a result of the heat. Crews in the South of France battled wildfires which spread over 22,000 acres and forced 12,000 people to evacuate. Fires also spread across large parts of Greece, Portugal and Spain.
