Crowd moving back from tent STORYLINE Shiites in Karbala on Saturday celebrated Ashoura, the holiest day of the year, with a re-enactment of the Last Battle before the death of Imam Hussein bin Ali, grandson of Islam''s Prophet Muhammad. Ashoura is an annual mourning ceremony marked by Shiite Muslim around the world to commemorate the 7th century death in battle of Imam Hussein. As men and women ran through the streets of Karbala on Saturday, tents were burned and mounted swordsmen took part in a recreation of the 7th century battle for leadership of the Islamic world. The tenth of Mahram, on Feb. 19, is the highlight of commemoration ceremonies in Karbala, some 100 kilometres (62 miles) south of Baghdad.
