The book of Job in the Old Testament addresses this troubling question: “Why do believers in God face troubles and suffering in life?” Job was a faithful man, yet God allowed him to lose everything he had and suffer terribly. Job’s friends confidently offered rational explanations for his suffering, but they were all mistaken. In the end, God taught Job that he needed to trust in him, even when life hurts. Do you ever wonder why life is hard? Would you like to find peace, even in the midst of life’s troubles? I hope you can join us for this Bible study. In our eighth lesson, we studied what Job’s second friend - Bildad - said to Job in his second speech to him. We evaluated whether Bildad was right to say that wicked people always receive their downfall here on earth. We then read how Job felt “crushed”, like God had wronged him, like God was at war with him. We discussed how crushed and discouraged we can get in life. Finally, we finished with Job’s surprising declaration, “I know that my Redeemer lives” (Job 19:25). In the middle of his worst heartache, Job found comfort in his Savior and God’s promise of the resurrection to eternal life. We hope you can watch our Bible study and grow in your faith in Jesus as you face the suffering of your own life.
