A Washington State Patrol trooper was hospitalized with minor injuries after being rear-ended on State Route 512 near Canyon Road in Pierce County around 6:30 p.m. Monday. According to WSP, a driver following too closely struck the trooper's patrol car, causing it to hit other vehicles. No other drivers required hospitalization. The Pierce County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash. The incident occurred about a month after a separate incident where Trooper Tara-Marysa Guting was killed in Pierce County after being struck by a vehicle.
