A trip to the 11th-century Devil's Bridge - the oldest of the three bridges at Pontarfynach - and footage of the punch bowl, and nature trail there. The latter includes waterfalls, Jacob's Ladder (100 continuous steps), and Robber's Cave. Pontarfynach means 'the bridge of the river Mynach'. This river (Afon Mynach) drops 300 feet (90 metres) down a ravine at Mynach Falls (Rhaeadr Mynach). The Monk's River alludes to the Cistercian Abbey of Strata Florida which held extensive estates in the area (Ceredigion, Wales). The other two bridges date back to the 18th and 20th centuries, respectively. Devil's Bridge can be accessed by road or the Vale of Rheidol steam train which runs from Aberystwyth.
