This is a continuation of my Let's Play series of Final Fantasy IV Advance - Low Level Game / Initial Equipment. In this video, I square off against Dr. Lugae and his mechanized creation, Barnabas. The fight with Dr. Lugae was tricky and took quitea few attempts for everything to work as planned. In the first stage of the fight, Barnabas hits hard and fast. I try to have Cecil Auto-Cover for the team, but this is rather messy. Now here is the dilemna. Both Dr. Lugae and Barnabas give 5,500 exp. for a total of 11,000 exp. divided 5 ways. Now if I kill only Barnabas, Dr. Lugae will step out of the fight and Barnabas-Z will step in. This mech hits even harder and faster, but after 2 rounds will self destruct, killing one of my party members for sure. Now, for this time of run, I usually want to have everyone survive the fights, ensuring that my team will have the lowest overall experience, but this fight is an exception. Barnabas-Z only gives 20 exp. so if I go this route, my team will get 5520 exp. split 4 ways with one person dead gaining nothing. 5520 split 4 ways is 1380 exp. for both my active and inactive party members, as opposed to 11,000 split 5 ways yielding 2200 exp. for both active and inactive. So having one person die was the best option. Now, who to die. I chose Rydia because she had the least exp. and thus, was the lowest level. She would have gained most from the exp. in this fight, so she was the logical one to die. After many attempts, Barnabas-Z finally self destructed, killing her. For the second phase with Dr. Lugae, he starts the fight poisoning everyone. Don't bother healing this. He also counterattacks any attack with a sleep attack. The way I won this fight was had Rosa heal with Kain as backup healer with Hi-Potions, this is because he is my weakest party member, using Iron Armor and a Spear since it was his initial equipment. I also have him feed Rydia Ethers as he can so she can cast Titan every chance she can get. Yang and Cecil attack and help with potions and Ethers when Kain is unable to. Dr. Lugae attacks in an attack pattern where he attacks one person with a weak laser, followed by another laser attack which is a one shot for whoever it hits, so you'll need to revive many times in the fight. He'll then follow with a weak fire attack on everyone, then proceeds to Remedy your team, healing any sleep status and the Poison status he initially started with, then repeat the cycle. I just kept us this strategy and eventually have over 7 Titan casts, he finally died.
