Is it ADHD, or Adverse Childhood Experiences ACEs?

This video describes the concept of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), traumatic events in the life of a child. It describes ten of the chief ACEs and discusses the links between ACEs and a diagnosis of ADHD. Several studies are presented that suggest that the more ACEs a child has, the greater their likelihood of being diagnosed with ADHD. This suggests that, at least for some children, ADHD may not be a discrete medical disorder, but rather a collection of symptoms that arise when infants, children, teens, or adults confront adversities like child abuse, child neglect, poverty, domestic violence, parental incarceration, parental mental illness, and other traumatic events. (Note: this 12-part video series also includes other plausible influences that can also give rise to ADHD symptoms including all-boy behavior, media saturation, and brain development delay).
