Baby found dead in Cleveland driveway

The Cleveland Division of Police is investigating after an unidentified baby girl was found dead. According to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office, the girl was found in a driveway on West 73rd Street on Saturday, August 23. Cleveland police told 3News that at around 2:17 a.m., they responded to a suspected overdose near West 73rd Street and Clark Avenue. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a 39-year-old woman being treated by Cleveland EMS. "During their investigation, officers learned the woman had recently given birth and that the baby might be nearby. Officers immediately searched the area and discovered an infant inside a cloth shopping bag in a driveway," said Cleveland Division of Police Sergeant Wilfredo Diaz. The woman was transported to the hospital for further treatment. The death is reported as a suspected homicide.
