Indra Canteen I Rahul Gandhi Had Ten Rupees Meals Launching the Indira Canteen in Bengaluru, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi today said the idea is aimed at "the poorest and the weakest" in the city. "Many people in Bengaluru live in huge houses, drive rich cars and for them food is not an issue. But millions of people here are construction workers, auto rickshaw drivers and barbers who do not have enough money. The Indira Canteens will serve these people," Gandhi said while inaugurating the canteen at Jayanagar ward in the city. "We want the poorest and the weakest in the city to know that they cannot go hungry," he said after inaugurating the canteen. He was accompanied by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, city Mayor G Padmavathi, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President G Parameshwara and other party leaders. Rahul said he is "proud" of the fact that the canteen will provide breakfast for Rs 5 and meals at Rs 10. "Nobody in Bengaluru should go hungry," he said.
