How to Trade on Budget Day | Intraday Options Setup | Positional Options trading

In this video, Aseem Singhal breaks down Budget Day trading setups and explains why implied volatility (IV) often behaves in a predictable way around the Union Budget. Since the market will be open on the Budget Sunday (full session), he shares two types of strategies: Intraday approach (Budget Day): Using data from 2018 to 2025, he shows that even when NIFTY makes sharp up/down moves during the Budget speech, ATM straddle prices often decay because IV drops, which benefits option writers (via Vega). Positional / swing approach (days before and after Budget): He studies a 11-day window (5 days before Budget, Budget Day, 5 days after) and tracks Greeks (IV, Delta, Theta, Gamma, etc.). The key insight: IV often rises into the event and then falls after, which can help build a plan like long-IV strategies before Budget and short-IV strategies after (with hedged setups like spreads / iron condor). He ends with a reminder: these are probability-based observations from past data and not a guarantee for the current year.
