According to AUNAP, it generates more than 50,000 direct jobs and 150,000 indirect jobs throughout the country. With its two oceans, its abundant water resources, high potential for domestic consumption growth, and competitive prices, the country has comparative advantages that, combined with strong support from the National Government to boost the sector, can make Colombia an international player, provided it improves its productivity, develops adequate infrastructure, generates economies of scale, reduces energy costs, achieves traceability, minimizes its environmental impact, and achieves greater associativity with a cluster vision.
