Kobane a ghost town as fighting rages

The battle for the Syrian border town of Kobane is still raging, with its fate being seen as an important test for the campaign against the Islamic State. However, the conflict has meant that Kobane has virtually become a ghost town. The United Nations estimates that fewer than 700 of its residents remain.
