This is the theatrical trailer for Lee Harry's 1987 slasher horror feature "Silent Night, Deadly Night: Part 2", the first sequel to the 1984 controversial slasher movie "Silent Night, Deadly Night", and the second entry into a franchise that spawned six movies (including three direct to video sequels and a loose remake in 2012). The movie was released independently on Friday, April 10, 1987, the only movie in the franchise to not have a November release date. On Christmas Eve 1988, four years after the events of the first movie, 18-year-old Richard "Ricky" Caldwell/Chapman (Eric Freeman) is being held in a mental institution, where he has been incarcerated for life after being sentenced for a series of murders he committed. He is the younger brother of William "Billy" Chapman (Robert Brian Wilson), the first movie's original killer. While being interviewed by the hospital's psychologist Dr. Henry Bloom (James L. Newman), Ricky recounts his brother Billy's tragic story, which is accompanied by 40 minutes of film from the first movie, in which he saw his parents murdered by a killer dressed as Santa Claus. Having grown up mistreated and abused in the local orphanage by the sadisitic Mother Superior (Lilyan Chauvin in archival footage and Jean Miller in new footage), Billy grew up to become a killer in his own right with his trauma never treated. His murder spree on Christmas Eve and Day 1984 was ended when he was killed by the police in an attempt to kill Mother Superior, dying right in front of a traumatized and angered Ricky, who's family have been utterly destroyed. Ricky then goes into his own story of how he was adopted shortly thereafter and remained a happy child until his adopted father died, which sent him on his first murder. By the time he was 18, Ricky had met and fell in love with a young woman named Jennifer (Elizabeth Cayton), who kept being pestered by her ex-boyfriend Chip. Eventually, he snaps and murders both Chip and Jennifer, all of which sets him on a murdering spree in his neighborhood. When we arrive at the present, Ricky, in his cell, realizes the source of his trauma and the destruction of his family is Mother Superior. He breaks out of the institution and begins his bloody rampage in order to even the score with Mother Superior, but not before he kills Bloom.
