More Lessons: http://www.MathAndScience.com Twitter:   / jasongibsonmath   In this lesson, you will learn how to name ionic compounds in chemistry. an ionic compound is comprised of a positively charged ion and a negatively charged ion that bond together due to electrostatic attraction. Effectively, an electron gets transferred from one species to the other (metal to nonmetal), leading to two ions which are bonded. This is why they are called ionic compounds. The naming system is very easy to understand and this is what we will focus on in this lesson.
