Isandla Institute Roundtable Discussion on Upgrading Informal Settlements

Isandla Institute, together with the African Centre for Cities at UCT, facilitated a roundtable discussion on upgrading informal settlements at their National Roundtable on 24 November. Taking part in the discussion were authors of the latest UCT Press title, Upgrading Informal Settlements in South Africa: a partnership-based approach. General Editor, Liza Cirolia, related her experiences managing the authors, working with researchers from various backgrounds, and talked about the prospects for upgrading informal settlements. Upgrading Informal Settlements in South Africa: a partnership-based approach looks at the successes and challenges of informal settlement upgrading initiatives in this country, and contextualises them within global debates about informal settlement upgrading and urban transformation.
