Thousands rally against Catalonia's plans to secede

카탈루냐 독립 반대 거리행진 수십만 참여 Downtown Barcelona was packed with people protesting against Catalonia's plans to separate from Spain. According to march organizers,... more than 930-thousand showed up. Barcelona police refuted those numbers however, saying only around 350-thousand took part in the demonstration. Either way, the gathering on Sunday is the largest pro-union rally since the Catalan government went ahead with its referendum on secession, which Spain deemed illegal. Plus, only 43 percent of the region's 5-point-3 million eligible voters turned up at polling stations during that referendum. Many attending Sunday's rally fear the rise of separatist sentiment in the prosperous north-eastern region is pushing Spain to the brink of a national crisis. Some of the protest slogans read "Let's recover our common sense," while others called for imprisonment of the Catalan president.
