Levels TAS-ed: -Radical -Phat -Sweet -Far Out -Wicked -Killer -Sick -Epic -Uber Epic Yeah, I had been thinking about this, and I decided to go ahead and TAS this Hack. I tried to go mostly for speed, while trying to keep it as interesting as possible in the more dull parts where I really can't go any faster. This is probably not perfectly optimized, and I did sacrifice a little bit of speed to do something interesting or funny in a few spots. Notes about individual levels: Radical: If you collect the 50th purple coin at the same time you get killed by an enemy, the death music will play, but you'll still warp to the goal screen alive and well. Phat: It is possible (and slightly easier than usual, assuming you don't get crushed to death instead) to wall jump in the wraparound zone at the top/bottom of the screen. Also, I hated having to wait for that slow skull raft, but I couldn't see any way to skip using it. Sweet: Ugh, the forced movement is so slow, but I did come up with a few clever ways to change direction, and even use the glitchy nature of the custom switch blocks to my advantage! Screen scrolling was used to get a saw in a useful position for me at one point. Far Out: The hit I took from the parakoopa near the start was intentional (it was either that or get hit by an unavoidable-without-losing-speed saw up ahead, but getting hit by the parakoopa let me easily collect my reserve mushroom). Also, screen scrolling was used during a really long jump later so that a saw would be in the position I needed it to be. And, I managed to clip through a glitchy custom switch block right at the goal. Wicked: Luigi, you're too slow! Fortunately, Luigi doesn't need to be on screen at all, so it was just a matter of figuring out the timing of when to hit the ON/OFF blocks. Killer: Nothing spectacularly unique here, though I do a wall jump at one point to avoid having to use the wall triangle. Sick: Oddly enough, the game will let me perform a jump on the first frame after the message at the beginning goes away, even though I shouldn't be able to jump at all in that level. I wonder why it's possible to jump there... Also, I did some screen scrolling later on to try to have some sprites be in good positions for me. Epic/Uber Epic: First room: Screen scrolling at the start affects the timing of the spike pillars, letting me get through slightly faster, though I end up having to take a hit from one of them (so I couldn't make use of that screen scrolling thing in Uber Epic). Also, I do like how the later spike pillars are already lined up perfectly for me! Second room: Interestingly, if you spin jump just as you ram into a wall (or spin jump as a wall jump), the switches won't toggle. I wonder why... Third room: Yay, a 1-up combo is actually possible here! Fourth room: The game lets me jump on the first frame upon entering that room for some reason. Also, It's surprising how large a gap you can run across when it comes to those stretching turn block bridges. And, in Epic only, I touch the goal tile at the same time I get hit by a Thwomp, causing the shrinking sound effect to play as the screen fades out, without costing me any time (this does cost me my power ups, but I was going to be forced to play Uber Epic with no power ups anyway).
