Indian students flee Ukraine amid concern over teachers' safety, status of degrees • FRANCE 24

Simran Malhotra is a medical student from India who was studying in Ukraine. She travelled for 800 kilometres over four days to reach Romania and eventually flew to New Delhi. "[Ukraine] has become a home for me. I am attached to the people. I am so concerned about my teachers, I have been messaging them 24/7." Some 20,000 Indians lived in Ukraine before the Russian invasion, most of them studying medicine. Thousands have fled to the border areas of Poland, Hungary and Romania.
