From my years of experience, these 5 qualities of great public speakers are ones that I believe will genuinely help you level up your speaking game. The truth of the matter is that great public speakers are not born. They are made. Becoming a public speaker who is worth their salt is neither a one-day job nor a skill you simply acquire and hone overnight. Public speaking is both art and science. It takes practice, resilience, and the ability to silence your fears - at least for the time being until you leave the stage. If you're reading this, chances are you’re searching for ways to become a better public speaker. Fortunately for you, I’ve put together a list of 5 essential qualities to help you achieve just that. 01:22- 1. Study Other Great Public Speakers Watch them on stage but don’t mimic them verbatim. Take note of what works, modify it, and make it Your Own. 02:16- 2. Authenticity Is Key Don’t try to be someone else. An excellent public speaker is comfortable in their skin and acts natural. 03:34- 3. A Great Public Speaker Is Prepared. Want to look awesome on stage and be memorable? Do the work. Do your research and practice…a lot. 04:44- 4. Value The Experience Of Being On Stage As Much As Possible If someone invites you up on stage, accept the invitation, no matter how small (even if you're "unprepared."). Every opportunity to speak is an opportunity to level up 05:47- 5. Put Your Audience First Figure out your audience’s wants and needs, and use that to serve them better.
