Jonathan Ben-Naim, a former police officer, remembers the beginning of the Hamas gunmen's onslaught on October 7 as he counts the bullet holes in his home and vehicle. Ben-Naim and his family sought refuge in a secure room in their home in Pri Gan when Hamas gunmen breached the Israeli border. The door to that room now bears evidence of the ensuing gunbattle. Ben-Naim was able to hold his ground and battle for the next three hours with his son by his side "like a robot, with no emotions." They were eventually saved by an Israeli police team.
