A Soyuz 2.1a is Installed on the Launch Pad at Vostochny Cosmodrome

On 29th January 2018 a Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle was transported to the launch complex and installed on the launch pad at the Vostochny Cosmodrome. So that pre-launch work could be carried out a mobile service tower was errected around the rocket. This pre-launch work starts with inspection and testing of the Soyuz launch vehicle, the Fregat upper stage and the payload. The launch of the Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle with the two Russian Canopus-V Earth remote sensing and emergency monitoring satellites is scheduled for 1st February 1 2018. The Soyuz will also launch 9 small satellites as secondary payloads. This will be the third launch from the Vostochny cosmodrome. Credit: Roscosmos
