This beautiful ghazal “Niyyat-e-Shauq Bhar Na Jae Kahin” is written by the legendary poet Nasir Kazmi. It has been sung by great artists over the years — Noor Jahan, Asha Bhosle, Kaushiki Chakraborty, Papon, Prithvi Gandharv, Shom Chatterjee, and Amruta Kolatkar, among others. It’s one of my all-time favourites. I get emotional every time I hear it, and even more so when I sing it. This piece is very close to my heart. I may not stand anywhere near these maestros, but I wanted to share my humble attempt at this timeless ghazal.
