Police in Thika, Kiambu county had a difficult time reigning in on rogue boda boda operators ferrying travelers through panya routes in farms and bushes to Murang’a county. The Boda boda riders are said to have hiked fares 10 fold in a bid to make a killing from desperate Kenyans seeking passage to regions beyond areas designated as the disease infested zone. Meanwhile, it was a reprieve for travelers along the Nairobi-Machakos highway after police allowed them to operate past the 8 pm curfew after an accident caused a traffic snarl up.
