Fair Lady Productions is dedicated to bringing the theater to the Naperville community. Under the umbrella of Fair Lady Productions are three groups: Kidz Kabaret: a non-audition children’s theater group where every child is center stage. Center Stage Players: an audition-only youth theater program for experienced students who want to pursue the theater in college and/or as their career. Center Stage Theater: a community performing arts center in Naperville in which both Kidz Kabaret and Center Stage Players perform. The venue is also available for rent by other local theater groups, emerging artists and community organizations. Executive Director, Kandiss Hernandez, talks about the renovations that are taking place at Center Stage Theater which will increase the size of the lobby by 40% as well as create a cafe and gathering area named King’s Cafe in honor of her father. The renovation will be complete in time for the annual family friendly New Year’s Eve event which includes a performance by the Center Stage Players. Center Stage Players will be performing Zombi Prom. This Off Broadway musical is set in the atomic 1950s at Enrico Fermi High, where the law is laid down by a zany, tyrannical principal. Pretty senior Toffee has fallen for the class bad boy. Family pressure forces her to end the romance, and he charges off on his motorcycle to the nuclear waste dump. He returns glowing and determined to reclaim Toffee’s heart. He still wants to graduate, but most of all he wants to take Toffee to the prom. The principal orders him to drop dead while a scandal reporter seizes on him as the freak du jour. History comes to his rescue while a tuneful selection of original songs in the style of 50’s hits keeps the action rocking across the stage. The New Year’s Eve event starts at 4 PM at Center Stage Theater with the Zombi Prom production then guests travel 5 miles in a complimentary shuttle to the Embassy Suites – Naperville to dine, dance and party the night away.
