(25 Feb 2015) Clashes between riot police and demonstrators trying to block the access to the International Airport in Acapulco on Tuesday night left 12 people injured, federal authorities said. Approximately 4,000 teachers from the southern restive state of Guerrero marched in the resort city of Acapulco to demand better working conditions and to protest against the disappearance of 43 students in September. During several hours, riot police blocked the main road leading to the airport to prevent teachers taking over the main terminal. Demonstrators used a passenger bus to break the police line, injuring seven police officers, said the State Department in a press release. Officials said dozens of demonstrators were arrested, but did not specify an exact number. Acapulco and other cities in Guerrero have suffered from constant protests, often violent, and blockades after the disappearance of 43 students from the Ayotzinapa teachers college in September.
