Justice for Woolworths. Help the Staff!!

http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petit... http://www.facebook.com/?ref=tn_tnmn#... I am sure you would have seen in the news about the payout 24,000 ex employees of Woolies are finally going to get after a 3 year battle. The basis of the claim is when a company is considering redundancies of over 20 people they have to enter into 60 days of consultation with the staff involved and any relating Unions. In the case of Woolworths, this was not the case. The staff were told of the redundancies and store closures only 10 days after Administration was announced. So the employees were rightfully allowed to claim the Protective Award for the money they lost out on, money they would have earned if they had been given the 60 days consultation. The claim was won, but not for all staff. We made the claim as one company, yet 3000 ex employees are being left out becuase of a ruling that those who worked in a store of under 20 people, were not entitled. We were all staff of the same company that went under, we all lost our jobs in the same way on the same day(s) Just because these people worked in smaller stores, they are unfairly not getting any compensation. All I ask is for you to sign this Government petition to help us help these people. http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petit... We have a group on Facebook, we are trying our best to help. A selection of MPs are involved and are taking the fight to Parliament, so the more people who sign, the better. Now some people do not agree with the fact the tax payers are paying for this, we don't like it either. We believe the Administrators should pay. We are ALL tax payers, so in a way we are just getting our money back. But imagine if this was YOU. If you had been told that YOU were not getting money, but others in the same company are. If you have been told, 4 weeks before xmas that you were out of a job. Imagine if you discovered the company responsible for your job loss did NOT follow the law regarding the redundancy and your rights to money you are owed. Wouldn't you want to fight for it?That is what we are doing. So please take 1 minute out of your day to sign this petition.
