Family man Joel lost his young daughter Sarah, who was shot by the military, while fleeing his homeland. Since then, Joel and the rest of humanity have been fighting their way through the day, fighting off other infected people. On one of his missions, Joel encountered Ellie, a 14-year-old girl who, as it later turns out, is immune to the Cordyceps virus. On their long, emotional journey together to the Fireflies, an organization that wants to create an antidote from Ellie, a close relationship develops between Ellie and Joel. Joel became Ellie's foster father, so to speak. Since Ellie would die during the operation, he called off the whole thing at the last second, shot all the Fireflies, and brought them to Jackson, Wyoming, where his brother Tommy was building a settlement. But he lied to Ellie when she asked him what had happened with the Fireflies... The mix of action adventure and survival horror with an apocalyptic atmosphere sold 5.5 million copies on the PS3.
