N. Korea could conduct fifth nuclear test around rare party congress, S. Korea says

Echoing its previous projections, South Korea's defense ministry also said the North could try to test-fire mid- or long-range ballistic missiles. North Korea is scheduled to hold its first Worker's Party congress in 36 years on Friday, and it is widely seen as a chance for the regime's leader Kim Jong-un to solidify his power. North Korea conducted its fourth nuclear test in January, followed by an inter-continental ballistic missile launch the following month and numerous mid-range ballistic missile tests in recent weeks.
