[M] Veather - Movement Showcase Spring 2018

Directors/Choreographers: Victor Hiltner, Heather McCandless As you may know, swing dancing and swing music has been a part of our culture and history for well over a century now. This semester, Movement Veather sought to capture just how much this classic American music has grown from its heyday of big bands and nightclubs of the 20s and 30s, to its 21st century variants which mix its classic components with modern musical styles. Alternating between the old and the new, this set highlights the developments of not just the music, but the dance as well, featuring an interesting combination of traditional “lindy hop” with more hard-hitting, contemporary, and unorthodox movements as well.
