This video is a short introduction to the cruise and not a description of this excellent ship or all of it's facilities. These have been shown in many other videos. The ship is the Marella Discovery and the cruise was from Naples, through the Suez Canal and on to Jordan with excursion to Petra. We took it in November 2019. As we had 5 days at sea I have to report that there was plenty to do on board. There were lectures, shows, swimming a small library, Gym, climbing wall, crazy golf and Spa. The Suez Canal was much better than I expected, especially if you see the sun rise. Our ship led the convoy through so we had a good view. Aqaba, in Jordan, is a Freeport and was interesting but Petra is well worth the visit. (about 12min 45 sec into the video) We were there on 7th November 2019 and it was very hot. I didn't realise how dry air can affect your mouth very quickly so take plenty of water if you visit it. The walk through the site is quite long and some of the ground is uneven with largish stones. There is the hazard of fast horse drawn carriages thinking they own the place and did, actually cause me to fall over and cut my knee, so I also had a visit to the medical facilitates on the ship to prevent any infection. My only disappointment with the trip was that we arrived in Naples rather late in the day so took no excursion here and missed Pompeii etc. The walk from the Airport to the coach that took us to the ship, while wheeling or carrying a suitcase, was quite long.
