Matthew 6:19, 20 19"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20"But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal;… Here is the issue of priorities. What is important to you. Falling within the Gospel of Matthew these verses are first directed at the minds of people lost in sin. the carnal mind has as a high priority the accumulation of wealth; making lots of money. It begins are a matter of survival. Money to have shelter and food. For the Christian mind however it is a yard stick against proper living. if you find your primary focus is on accumulating wealth; obsessing on money, reading this verse you know that your focus is way off as a Christian. The focus on wealth is understandable for a lost person, the one living under the law, but too strong of a focus on wealth by a Christian is insulting to God. your standard here is set way beyond that of the lost persons that Jesus directed this statement against. Let your priorities ALWAYS reflect your eternal perspective as a Saved Soul.
