JKXRL (JKXR ported to Linux) Jedi Academy NATIVE [Archlinux + Meta Quest 3 via WiVRn]

WiVRn - works. ALVR - it's not working with SteamVR 2.16/2.17 Steam Link - works. Continuation of the previous video, in a way -- the second game supported by JKXR / JKXRL: Jedi Academy ("Jedi Knight III"). This is an old (and FANTASTIC) game which had its engine open-sourced (OpenJK engine, which has a Linux native build). Some people ported it to VR, but for Windows and Android only. Running through Proton doesn't work - tried many times -- so I ended up using assistance from Claude Code and I fully ported it to Linux. You can download it in the repository: https://github.com/Patola/JKXRL All the instructions are there. There's also a PKGBUILD for Archlinux. It needs the original games for the assets, of course, which you can buy on Steam. Once you installed, if you want Steam to record your time playing the game, use this as launch options: cmd=(%command%); JKXR_JKO_GAMEDATA="$(dirname "${cmd[-1]}")" jkxr-jko I show this at the beginning of this video. This gameplay comprises of the 4 first levels of the game until the time I die in a fall. I try to show the weapons, force powers, progression, etc. just like in the previous video (for Jedi Outcast). In this game you are not Kyle Katarn but one of his students. You have a few choices at the start to customize it. You already start by using a few force powers, instead of an initial section with shooting. Having said that, shooting is always available as an option. You can see some bugs from the original engine, like the weird camera angles in VR and some shadows that don't look right. This is something I will probably be trying to fix in the future.
