What do you get when you combine the tranquil stillness of the ocean's depths with the serene calm of a lavender field on a warm summer evening? The answer: Aqua Lavender Noise. Full credit for this one goes to my 6-year-old! A few weeks ago, while dipping his head in and out of the bath (as Lavender Noise played softly from his sister's room), he told me her sound was different underwater. I asked if he meant in a good way, and he nodded. So I experimented a bit myself (playing the sounds on my phone and then dipping my head underwater in the bath) and he was right. The noise had a softer, smoother quality. Maybe the water was filtering out some of the higher frequencies - I'm not too sure. Anyway, that got me thinking about creating what my son proudly named Aqua Lavender—a blend of Lavender Noise and underwater ambience. Using my elongation technique, with lavender plant rustling and brush scratching, I created a base noise. I then played that noise -and submerged a mic in the bath to capture its underwater sound, adding in recordings of underwater ambience from a trip to the Thames. To round it off, I then blended in some deeper tones, made using a rice shaker. The result? A deep, soothing soundscape perfect for sleep. So this one is from my little man! May our little ones continue to inspire us! ❤🤗 Sleep long and sleep well with this, my friends! 😴 MADE USING: Modular Underwater Contact Hydrophones (Oxford, River Thames), bathwater, lavender leaves and plants, rice shaker and brush scratching.
